Six Ways from Sunday

The use of climate science as a wedge issue is a disaster in more ways than one. Indeed, the use of any science as a wedge issue is a disaster. Science is the vehicle for consensus, the arbiter of the more mundane truths, and it is something every single person on earth should be an enthusiastic part of, and have the opportunity to develop such skills as they are able.

Those who suggest people “take sides” on an issue of fact (as opposed to taking sides on an issue of ethical principle or on an issue of strategic or tactical plans) are no friends of science, and I would go so far as to say that they are no friends of democracy either.
