Fire Danger Returns to Texas

After the respite of a wet winter, drought seems to be returning to Texas. There is talk of a third La Nina year. The grasses that grew so high in response to the late spring rain now look to just be ready to provide extra fuel for fires.

What’s more, from an airplane view, it is clear that tree mortality from last year was very high – there is an awful lot of dry timber in the forested lands.
