Water Falls from Sky

After a fairly wet spring we had our traditional summer dry spell here in Central Texas. The image is a screen capture from a weather prediction app as of September 2.

So it was peculiar to see water falling from the sky again. But the last couple of days we have had episodes of substantial steady rain. This was not enough to recharge reservoirs very much, but at least it was enough to prime the pump.

Hurricane Isaac relieved the drought a bit in the Mississippi and Ohio valleys and the Appalachians, but the fraction of the US in water deficit remains strikingly high.
