Climate Feedback to Energy Sector

While a great deal of attention is paid to the impacts of the energy sector on climate, there is a substantial potential for impacts going the other way as well.

The US Department of Energy has a simple graphic illustrating the point here.

This is not easy to model. My guess is that the economic models of climate impacts don’t include it. It would be interesting to consider which energy supplies are most resilient to climate impacts and which most vulnerable.

  1. I imagine you've seen this via slashdot. Ends with a great quote:

"We can untangle the production of electricity from our water supply to a much greater degree, and we can build a low-carbon electricity system,” study authors wrote. “But we cannot wait, nor do either in isolation, without compromising both. We must get this right."
