Google Bes Evil

Via Jeff Nesbit:

All 17 of the 2011 Google Science Fellows have written an open letter to Google Chairman Eric Schmidt and CEO Larry Page about their decision to raise money for Senator Inhofe. The open letter was posted at Climate Science Watch this morning, and Andy Revkin mentioned it in his Dot Earth blog this morning and ran an essay from four of the signers (Nisbet, Townsend, Coomey and Cole).

The authors agree that “Nearly every large company must – and should – work with policymakers on both sides of the aisle. We also recognize the difficulty that corporations sometimes face in reconciling their core principles with their short-term business priorities. But in the face of urgent threats like climate change, there are times where companies like Google must display moral leadership and carefully evaluate their political bedfellows. Google’s support of Senator James Inhofe’s re-election campaign is one of those moments.”

  1. Finally, after months of trying and moving on, I have established DuckDuckGo as my default search. It's excellent (first recommended by a favorite commenter on RealClimate quite some time ago).

They claim no tracking, it has relatively little advertisement, and there seem to be fewer junk responses, while the ones there are look perfectly adequate.

Try it, I think you'll like it!
