The 1963 March on Washington

This week is the fiftieth anniversary of the March on Washington at which Rev Martin Luther King delivered his “I have a dream” speech.

“We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.”

Comments:

  1. My mother, who is now largely incapacitated and under my care, organized us to actually be there (I was 15). I marvel at the enterprise of a housewife in New Jersey deciding to up sticks with her best friends and a bunch of teenagers and give me (among others) the story of a lifetime! Can you believe it, I was there!! I owe her.

Would we had something like that to do for climate ...

  2. Yes indeed, the best reporters have been picking up on this message (I'll have to check, but I think Rachel Maddow (the incomparable, when it comes to research)); MSNBC talked about this aspect. Food for thought. We have been taught to reject socialism, but if we are to survive the coming decades, we are going to have to learn to work together for the common good and stop being so addicted to passive entertainment.
